Atheris: Intelligent, Automated Label Removal for Refurbishment Operations
Save skilled operators for skilled tasks
Manual label removal consumes valuable labor hours. The process requires significant staffing and provides little technical value, yet it remains one of the most time-intensive steps in the recovery process.
Atheris transforms it into an automated operation. Reduce hands-on time. Re-focus your team on higher-value work.
Protect every surface, preserve every dollar
In secondary markets, cosmetic precision drives outcomes. Inconsistent label removal techniques can leave behind scratches, surface marks, or adhesive residue that impact grading and resale performance.
Atheris replaces variability with controlled removal. With calibrated pressure, precision path planning, and consistent heat application, devices leave the line clean, intact, and presentation-ready.
Built for scale and flexibility
Atheris’s modular mechanical design is built for adaptability. Core components like brackets and blades are interchangeable, allowing us to accommodate different device sizes and shapes without structural redesign. Adjustments are mechanical and configurable, enabling fast changeovers as product mix evolves.
Whether deployed as a standalone station or integrated into a broader automation sequence, Atheris scales alongside your operation, not against it.
Automation that connects the line
Even in highly automated refurbishment environments, isolated manual steps can introduce subtle variability, creating friction between otherwise standardized stages.
Atheris brings label removal into alignment with the rest of the automated workflow.

A precision blade, paired with controlled heat, lifts the label cleanly without scratching or surface damage. Brushes clear the removed material into bins, and Atheris is immediately ready for the next unit.
Common Deployment Questions
Will Atheris damage device surfaces?
No. Atheris is engineered specifically to protect cosmetic integrity.
The system uses a plastic/ceramic hybrid blade, combined with precisely controlled heat (up to 110°C) to soften adhesive before removal. This eliminates the need for solvents and prevents surface scratching.
The process has been tested across aluminum, painted, and textured laptop surfaces. Blade pressure is automatically calibrated based on device thickness, ensuring consistent, controlled contact without cosmetic damage.
What devices are compatible with Atheris?
Atheris is currently optimized for laptops but supports any device with a relatively level surface that can be secured in place.
The system has been tested on:
- Laptops
- Tablets
- Server boxes
- Non-rectangular devices
Expanding compatibility primarily involves quick mechanical fixture adjustments, no software retraining required.
What if the AI fails to detect or misidentifies, a label?
Atheris is designed with operator oversight and real-time correction built into the workflow. Before removal begins, detections can be reviewed and adjusted directly in the user interface. Labels can be added, excluded, or reclassified instantly without retraining the AI model.
Operator inputs can also be incorporated into the system’s exclusion library, enabling continuous improvement while maintaining speed and control.
