The PSUT: Automated, enterprise-grade PSU load testing

The PSUT tests every power supply rail under real load, with ripple, SMBus, and standby checks at four power levels. Developed for a hyperscale data center, it gives identical results on identical units, wherever they are tested.

The PSUT
  1. 50%

    Less operator handling time

    Hands-free versus manual probe testing

  2. 10

    Output rails tested per unit

The full range of enterprise PSU specs

  3. 3

    Continents deployed

    US, Europe, and Asia

  4. 100%

    Result repeatability across testers

    Calibrated and correlated

Basic PSU testers are blind boxes. The PSUT is calibrated infrastructure, built to surface real failures, eliminate false flags, and capture full traceability for every unit. Scalable design, automated load sequencing, and adapters for slider and cabled PSUs bring speed and precision to high-mix recovery.

Most PSU testers were not designed for recovery. They rely on handheld probes, need constant rewiring, and rarely capture ripple or standby rail behavior, so you get a verdict without insight.

The PSUT automates ripple at load, SMBus validation, multi-rail sequencing, and serial-level reporting. No rewiring and no skipped outputs.

  • Handles slider and cabled PSU types
  • Up to 10 output channels, including high-current +12V and standby rails
  • Ripple, load, and SMBus tests at 25, 50, 75, and 100% power
  • Snap-in adapters and saved load profiles
  • Automated yield reporting, maintenance alerts, and adapter tracking

One hyperscale customer saw identical results from three PSUTs on different continents, testing identical units with different operators.

  • Threshold tuning Adjust voltage, ripple, and load tolerances with real data from every model.
  • Failure patterns Spot issues tied to adapters, output rails, or production lots.
  • Supplier validation Compare performance across vendors.
  • Dashboards Pass and fail outcomes, rail-level anomalies, and adapter trends across every site.
  • Remote profiles and scoped access Update profiles without touching hardware; operators see only what they need.

How the PSUT works

  1. Connect

Adapters snap in securely for wired and slider PSU models.

  2. Test

Programmable output tests run ripple, AC load, full power, and SMBus communication.

  3. Diagnose

Each rail's behavior under incremental load is measured and failures flagged at rail level.

  4. Report

Dashboards show test logs, failure types, adapter wear, and pass and fail summaries.

Common questions

How does the PSUT compare to factory testers?

It offers many of the same capabilities, including multi-rail testing, ripple analysis, and digital communication checks, without the six-figure price or factory footprint. It is calibrated for precision and designed to scale in recovery and test labs.

What does setup involve?

Most customers start testing within a day. Each unit ships with a Windows control interface, onboarding documentation, and snap-in adapters, and we configure profiles for your PSU models with your engineering or QA team.

Can it run in air-gapped or high-security environments?

Yes. By default all test data stays local in a closed-loop setup, and nothing is transmitted unless you opt in. It already runs in secure hyperscale recovery facilities.

Does it support batch testing and scripting?

Yes. Units can be tested in sequence with minimal operator input, and advanced users can script load sequences, loop tests, and automatic logging.

What calibration and maintenance support is there?

Remote diagnostics, periodic calibration, and profile updates. The system also tracks adapter wear and alerts when maintenance is due.
