Processing large volumes of enterprise technology requires more than technical expertise. High-reliability operations depend on environments where workspaces, tools, and materials are organized for consistency and safety.
Reconext’s Mexicali Gómez Morín and Tecnomex facilities demonstrate this approach at scale. Together employing more than 1,000 people, these sites form a key part of our daily cross-border operational flow with the nearby Calexico facility. They’ve been running for more than 35 years, and continuous improvement remains central to how they operate today.
Operational Discipline Through the SOLES Program
At the Mexicali facilities, process control is reinforced through SOLES, a workplace organization program based on the 5S methodology that has been in place since 2021.
Widely used in advanced manufacturing, the 5S framework ensures safety, efficiency, and process control can be maintained. SOLES applies its five core practices across production and warehouse areas:
- Seleccionar (Sort) – Keep only necessary materials in the workspace
- Ordenar (Organize) – Arrange tools and equipment for efficient use
- Limpiar (Clean) – Maintain a consistently clean work environment
- Estandarizar (Standardize) – Apply clear visual standards across work areas
- Sostener (Sustain) – Maintain discipline and continuous improvement
On the production floor, these principles are reinforced through visual controls that make standards immediately visible. Tools and materials are positioned in designated locations, floor markings define equipment and movement zones, and identification tags ensure assets can be tracked quickly.
Supervisors guide the program, but maintaining these standards is a shared responsibility across the team.
Maintaining Standards Through Continuous Auditing
Consistency is reinforced through weekly SOLES audits across production and warehouse areas.
During these reviews, teams assess a range of workplace standards, including keeping stations free of non-production materials and ensuring identification tags remain visible and intact. The process ensures rigorous standards are maintained across operational areas.
Since the program was introduced five years ago, average monthly SOLES audit scores have improved by 67%, reflecting sustained progress in workplace.
Why Operational Discipline Matters
For companies managing complex technology lifecycles, operational control directly impacts outcomes. Structured environments support safer working conditions and enable teams to process customer equipment consistently across high-volume operations.
At Reconext’s Mexicali facilities, programs like SOLES ensure that even large and experienced operations continue improving how dependable lifecycle operations are delivered.
